The Onalaska Fire Department conducts periodic
inspections of all commercial, educational, institutional
and multi-family residential building in the Onalaska
area for pre-planning purposes. The City building
inspector and Fire Marshall will also conduct inspections
of such building within the city limits to ensure
compliance with the fire and life safety regulations.
There is no fee for the inspections and each inspection
will be scheduled with the owner/occupant of the
building. However, if violations are found and subsequent
inspections do not confirm proper corrective actions
have been taken there can be a fine imposed.
In the interest of assisting those interested in
ensuring a safe environment a checklist of common
violations will be available. An individual can
conduct their own survey and take corrective actions.
A request can be made to the city building inspector
for an inspection.
