Economic Development is the lifeblood
for the future of our community...
The City of Onalaska is committed to new
and sustaining economic development for our area.
We are proud to sit on the very banks of beautiful
Lake Livingston in a rural setting full of growth
opportunities. We lie on US 190, some 15 miles West
of US Highway 59 which runs North and South and
some 30 East of Interstate 45 which runs Northwest
and Southeast. Access to both corridors is easy
and without challenge. Thus shipping to every direction
is viable and simple from Onalaska. The outcome
is easy. Onalaska is the right place for you to
consider opening your new business and/or industry.
With rail a mere 15 minutes away, a small airport
within a 15 minute drive, you cannot go wrong with
Onalaska.
The Onalaska area has a large supply of skilled
workers in the welding, fabricating, and machinist
industry. Several major players in the industrial
fields are already looking at relocating to our
County.
Onalaska has constructed it’s first High School
and is rated among the top schools in the State
of Texas and certainly within Polk County. The district
is currently a 2A school and is proud to be a “Recognized”
district in the State. For the previous two years,
OISD has carried the “Exemplary” rating
which is the highest available in the State. This
years rating only missed “Exemplary”
by a few points. We are proud of our school district!
If it’s quality of life that you are looking
at for employees and management as well, Onalaska
is the place for you. With water surrounding us
on three sides, marinas and parks are in abundance.
Camping facilities, along with many water sport
activities are numerous in our City. Much of the
lake area property is still undeveloped and awaits
interest by people who enjoy the challenges of developing
such properties.
The staff of the City of Onalaska is more than ready
to assist you in identifying those resources that
can determine the future of your company. Whether
small or large, we are ready to serve you in a spirit
of cooperation. Identifying financial resources,
expediting permit processes, giving direction to
the proper alliance affiliates, all are a part of
the City of Onalaska’s Economic Development
Initiative.
The Greater Onalaska Chamber of Commerce is willing
to help new business and industry in any way possible.
The services provided by this and other area agencies
will ensure you the right help at the right time.
When choosing a new location for developing, expanding,
or relocating your company, we sincerely hope that
you will consider the City of Onalaska. We look
forward to helping you grow your business!
