About Us

Construction projects within the Onalaska city limits require a building permit and inspections at particular stages of construction. The Building Inspector helps assure that there won't be any shortcuts in the construction that might affect the owner's investment or safety.

The Permit Manager, Lee Parrish,  holds a TCOLE Master Peace Officer License and also has the duties of the being the City of Onalaska Fire Marshal which include Arson/Fire Investigations, Fire Inspections, Environmental Crimes Investigations and Local Code / Ordinance Enforcement. He also oversees the abatement process of properties that have structures that are deemed Dangerous or Unsafe as set forth by the Onalaska Code of Ordinance. In this role Lee works closely with the Onalaska Police Department, Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department and Onalaska City Council. Lee Parrish is a native Polk Countian being raised in Livingston. He graduated in the Class of 1989 from Livingston High School and attended Vocational/Technical training in Automotive and Diesel Technology at Angelina College. He has over 10 years experience in the Fire Service,serving as a Captain, Asst. Fire Chief and Fire Chief for Holiday Lake Estates VFD. He is a 2004 graduate of the Angelina College Police Academy and started with the Onalaska Police Department in 2005 having served as a Patrolman, Corporal, Sergeant and Captain for the Onalaska Police Department. Lee also worked corrections as a CO 3 at TDCJ Polunsky unit. Lee has 3,614 law enforcement training hours including 130 hours of Arson and Fire Investigation training through TEEX at the Texas A&M Fire School in College Station, Texas.  Lee has also received specialized training in fire related death investigation. Lee is a member of the International Code Council with training in Residential and Commercial Building Inspections.
