About Us

The Onalaska Public Library first opened its doors in April 2002. It is located between the Onalaska City Hall and the Onalaska Police Department. The library has the same holiday closures as the city. The phone number is 936-646-BOOK (2665) and the fax number is 936-646-2664. Stop by and see the library's display of historic Onalaska photos from 1890 through 1930.

Library cards are free for residents of the City of Onalaska and the Onalaska School District. There is a $3 charge for an out-of-district resident. Those applying for cards are asked to show proof of ID with a local address. The library maintains a collection of books, board games, bakeware, and DVDs. The collection is regularly updated with purchases and donations. In addition to adult fiction and nonfiction, the library has large print, young adult, children, and easy reader sections. The library offers inter-library loans for cardholders in good standing for 6 months who are willing to pay postage (the standard is $3).

The City of Onalaska observes the following holidays: New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The library will be closed on the observed holiday, and possibly the day before or after the observed holiday.
